The new office building of Poly (formerly Plantronics) is part of Park 20|20 in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands. This business park is the world’s first full-service Cradle to Cradle-optimized working environment. The outdoor SemperGreenwall, which adorns the facade of the building, emphasizes the importance of a green and healthy work environment. Sound also plays an important role in the design of the new office. The design and planting of the living wall have been specifically adapted to this. For example, the alternating width of the green panels on the facade visualizes a sound wave flowing across the building.
An interesting detail: butterfly boxes have been placed in the SemperGreenwall. This makes the vertical garden more attractive to butterflies and increases the biodiversity in the area.
The world's first Cradle to Cradle work environment
This business park, situated in the Haarlemmermeer, is the first full-service Cradle to Cradle work environment worldwide. The Poly office, as well as the entire Park, have been developed in line with the Cradle to Cradle philosophy. According to this philosophy, products should be reusable after use or serve as raw materials for a new product. The materials used in the construction of the office are produced and processed in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner, and they are 100% recyclable.
BREEAM-NL certificate "Excellent"
In addition to the SemperGreenwalls and a demountable lightweight building construction, various other sustainability measures have been applied, such as LED lighting, solar panels and intelligent control technology. In addition, the building is connected to the green energy supply of Park 20|20. Thanks to these measures aimed at sustainable energy, recycling and reuse of materials, the building has been awarded the BREEAM-NL ‘Excellent’ certificate.
