The Mississauga Gateway Centre is a 221,000 square foot new development comprising of 7 buildings totalling approximately 640,000 square feet of Class A office space. The project developer Triovest strove for whole-building sustainability, which translates in many sustainable features including an eye-catching SemperGreenwall in the front lobby. Our local Preferred SemperGreenwall Installer Ginkgo Sustainability, based in Toronto, was responsible for the installation of this lush living wall. All materials were sourced locally wherever possible from within a distance of 100km, and manufactured components were sourced from the Sempergreen headquarters in Holland.
Living wall part of sustainable vision
The developers sustainable vision for this commercial building is demonstrated in their seeking of LEED® NC Gold Certification. Remarkable features are the abundance of natural light, LED lighting, Level 2 Electric Car Charging Stations and the green wall in the lobby. The living wall measures 30m2 and is planted with 2,400 plug plants in 84 Flexipanels. The plant scheme was especially selected for this project, including plants like Ficus pumila, Phlebodium aureum, Syngonium podophyllum, Peperomia scandens and Calathea orbifolia, creating a warm, luxurious and relaxing atmosphere in the front lobby for both employees and visitors to enjoy.
