Gaithersburg High School aerial view with green roofSempergreen USA is proud to announce this week’s installation of a green roof on top of Gaithersburg High School with the impressive size of 15.000m2. By placing Sempergreen vegetation blankets, the roof of the building has transformed from dull grey to lush green!

Water retention

Gaithersburg High School now benefits from all advantages of a green roof. The Sedum plants are able to capture CO2 and fine particles, and can retain water. The Sedum blankets also give insulation, herewith reducing the amount of power used in the building for heating and air conditioning. The roof has a longer life expectancy thanks to the vegetation blankets. And last but not least, it is very nice to look at, especially in the summer when it attracts all kinds of bees and butterflies.
