The northern French municipality of Batilly has been expanded with the construction of 10 senior housing units. The functional houses are specially built for seniors of 70 years or older. The single-storey houses each have their own terrace and carport. In addition to the privacy and accessibility of these homes for the elderly, the use of quality and sustainable materials also plays an important role. The roofs are therefore equipped with solar panels and a green roof.
Green roofs offer enrichment of natural environment
Sempergreen France supplied 450 m² of Sedum-herb blankets for the green roofs of this project. The green roofs are clearly visible from street level due to the high vegetation and light-sloping roof surfaces, which ensures that the houses fit well into the landscape. The variation of Sedum and herbs attracts many bees and butterflies and therefore contributes to the increase of biodiversity.
