Water Retention Box
Sempergreen's Water Retention Box is an innovative solution for rainwater storage on flat roofs. This high-quality box is made from a mix of recycled and virgin Polypropylene (PP), which not only ensures a robust product with a long lifespan of at least 50 years, but which is also fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
Application in green roof systems
Sempergreen's Water Retention Boxes are specially designed for use in our Retention Roof Sedum and Biodiverse green roof systems. With an impressive 95% storage capacity, these boxes offer an effective solution to retain rainwater (temporarily) on the roof. This not only helps reduce peak load on the sewer system, but also contributes to sustainable water management.
To regulate the drainage of the collected rainwater, the boxes can be combined with a static drain, the Static RainFlow Restrictor, or with a dynamic drain, the Smart RainFlow Restrictor ‘Blue Meteo’. This allows controlled discharge of water, depending on weather conditions and the specific requirements of the project.
Delivery and installation
The Water Retention Box has a standard size of 600 mm length x 600 mm width. The boxes are available in different heights: 50, 65, 80, 100 and 150 mm. These have a storage capacity of respectively 47.50, 61.75, 76, 95, and 142.50 litres per square metre. This provides flexibility for various project requirements and roof build-ups. The boxes are supplied with connectors, allowing them to be linked together easily.

During installation, the boxes should be placed on a protective cover, with a filter fleece at the top. This prevents blockage and ensures efficient water drainage. For all product sheets, detailed installation instructions or in case of specific questions, you can always contact our expert team.
