The city centre of German Essen has a new green eye-catcher! Commissioned by restaurant chain Frittenwerk, Sempergreen Vertical Systems has installed a green wall in Essen's city centre over its new restaurant. The living wall is installed on the shadow side of a house facade and measures 100 square meters. The green wall has been developed in cooperation with the City of Essen: ‘the Green Capital of Europe 2017 '.
Plant Care System takes care of everything
The 20 plant varieties in the living wall have been pre-grown in a vertical orientation and were specially selected for the shadow side of the building. The living wall largely takes care of the Plant Care independently. An automatic irrigation system supplies water and nutrients. At the same time, Sempergreen Vertical Systems regularly maintains the green wall; plants are cut and replaced if necessary.
Third restaurant of the chain in a short time
The green wall is no new territory for the restaurant chain. As part of the sustainable corporate concept, the Frittenwerk restaurants in Düsseldorf and Cologne have already been lavishly landscaped. The fast-food chain calls itself ‘Pommesmanufaktur’ because of its specialization in the preparation of various French fries.
