Løren School in Oslo has taken a major step toward its sustainability mission by combining an existing green roof with innovative solar energy technology. The challenge was integrating solar panels without compromising the roof's biodiversity or load-bearing capacity. Thanks to the collaboration between Sempergreen and Over Easy Solar, the ideal solution was found. By using lightweight vertical PV units on the existing Sedum roof, the roof’s energy output increased significantly. This renovation project serves as an inspiring model for urban sustainability.
The next step in environmentally conscious education
Løren Elementary School, with 750 students, places a strong focus on environmental responsibility. In 2022, the school aimed to take the next step in their sustainable journey by combining their green roof with solar energy to create an energy-producing roof.
