In the German town of Buchholz in der Nordheide, the new construction of four apartments has been provided with a beautiful green roof by gardener Holger Neisser. The terraced houses are only connected to each other on the corner and therefore offer a lot of personal freedom both in the house and in the garden. A lush green roof has been installed on the roof surface with a slope of 15 degrees, which is connected at the corners to the adjacent roof. For this project, 150 m² Sempergreen Sedum-mix mats were applied in combination with a lightweight green roof construction.
Durable from head to toe
The green roof offers many benefits in terms of sustainability, the environment and experience value. The plants convert CO2 into oxygen and absorb fine dust from the air. A green roof also significantly reduces the need for air conditioning in the summer and provides thermal regulation in the winter, resulting in significant energy savings. In addition to the striking green roof, the new building is sustainable from head to toe. Within the energy concept of the new building, for example, a system for natural heat storage is applied by means of a heat pump.
